Re: The thread where Grommok* will bitch and nitpick GOT
I'd imagine the next two seasons will be something of a departure from the books, given that Feast/Dance happen at the same time chronologically. I can't see the show going for the location split between the two seasons, unless someone has information otherwise.

So yeah that part that was gonna be rough was rough. Made even worse by how great he was all season.
But Sansa had that nice dress, and she played dem fools. Arya snapped. Grey Worm saw some mams.
I mean, I think we came out ahead. Top epi.

I trust in their casting that whoever comes on the show next will do as good a job as Oberyn (or at least close) as giving us something interesting to watch so we don't have to pay attention to boring Dinero and Jon Snow.

Re: The thread where Grommok* will bitch and nitpick GOT
Oberyn's death hurts--he's a great character, and Pedro's performance was perfect. He's really an ancillary character, just remarkably fleshed-out--a false hope for Tyrion, there to introduce Dorne and the Martell family to the story, and to bring up events of the past. The good news is that Dorne is pretty dope--and it should be even better in the show, because the only issue with Dorne in Martin's books is his POV narrator is boring as shit. It's like he found the least fun Dornishman and decided we needed to be inside his head. The Sand Snakes are essentially female versions of Oberyn, so like button.
This season is heavily following the books obviously, and we can guess about to a scene what happens in the final 2 eps. But I hope they start to divert more next season--they're going to have to streamline and speed up some plots. The issue with Martin's recent two books is they get super digressive and overly nihilistic. And how many times he repeated the phrase "words are wind." I think each character obligated to say that once.
All the heroes of the show have fallen. Tyrion is in chains and about to be executed, Dinero is in an Iraq-esque quagmire, Jon is sitting around waiting to be attacked, Sam is fat, Theon has been castrated, Bran is still walking, and Jaime, otherwise a cool dude, raped his sister.
The only unambiguous heroes this season have been Arya who wants to be an assassin when she grows up, the Hound who murders stable boys and robs farmers, Sansa whose only friend is creepy uncle and world famous ham Petyr, and Oberyn who just, well, watermelon.
This dark point in the story is only rewarding if it builds/rebuilds some characters. Martin seemed to be starting that in Dance but was very slow about it (he could cut the battles but not the description of food?). So I hope the show will move some of these characters along faster--as much as I've loved this season and the book series, there is a point in the near future where I'll demand someone to root for again. I think that's what it did with Sansa--this has always been where she's going, and we fast-forwarded her there. I wonder if out of all the Stark children, Sansa's the one who might actually rebuild the family and survive the series. Arya's my favorite character outside of the Lannisters but she's def doomed in the long run. Her passion isn't something Martin rewards, as we've seen.

Re: The thread where Grommok* will bitch and nitpick GOT
Even knowing it was coming, still so horrible to watch Oberyn's defeat. Good people should just stay the hell away from King's Landing.
Missandei displaying more maturity and intelligence that Dany. I was a little creeped out though, cause isn't she only 10 at this point in the books?. (Missandei, not Dany).
Episode was wrongly named however. Should have been called 'The Pillar and the Stones'.

Don't click on this if your afraid of season 5 spoils. But seems like [redacted] is going to [redacted] and standing in for the [redacted.]
Maybe [redacted] sends him there to rescue [redacted]?
But what does this mean about [redacted]?????
We need a spoiler tag button.

Living up to the title of this thread, I could write several pages of everything wrong with the duel.
But I'm too lazy.

Re: The thread where Grommok* will bitch and nitpick GOT
I wonder if maybe the Wall battle isn't resolved until next season? I thought the battle was really well done. The mammoths and the giants were great, and the battle at the end was sweet. But it felt really short. I don't know why they cut it off there.
