Re: wildstar beta weekend
Well their check boxes light up blue instead of putting a check mark on them. It threw me off and cost me valuable seconds agreeing to their TOS.

I'm having a difficult time making it past the intro and it's just making me want to resub to WoW

The intro is terribly boring. I finished the first zone after the intro and it was a little better but I had to slog through the intro.

Dominion or Exiles? The Dominion intro always feels like more of a slog to me.

Yeah, Dominion tutorial was worse for me. I think it just feels longer, more than anything else. One of their starter zones was pretty boring too.

Re: wildstar beta weekend

I made Foggy. This is me walking across a zone I cleared because I didn't turn in a quest and the flight back took me to the beginning of the zone instead of where I took off from. It's also before I found the setting to make the UI smaller. This is needed. It's very easy to get 75 percent of your screen covered up by various UI elements, especially in battle or with dialogue boxes. Cranked that baby down to .7
Ignore the graphics, I was playing around with low settings.
I play zoomed out like this in most games, but it seems extra necessary here. Enemies the size of that snow man in the picture are pretty common and you fight a bunch of them at a time. Zoomed up close you can't see what you're doing. ZOOM OUT.
Quests are standard. Some timed "challenges" that are basically kill x enemies in 4 minutes, collect x items in 3 minutes.
The aiming is really lax, or at least it is for the class I'm playing. Maybe different at higher levels or melee, but the wide area makes it pretty easy to keep enemies in your firing zone. Circle strafing like normal pretty much does it. Unleashing a big aoe is satisfying.
Wish they went more in the action direction. It's standard toolbar + aiming. Would probably be better if they had gone more DCUO with it and utilized the mouse like DCUO does. But it's kind of hard to criticize here because I don't think this was one of their big goals anyway and it does its job.
It's similar to DCUO in other areas, too. The way they do the cutscenes, the little loot vacuum, the stun break etc.
Haven't really reached a level to mess with skill customization so no idea there but that looks like a big part of how they want to keep combat interesting.
Questions?

Re: wildstar beta weekend
Are you playing Mordesh? A reliable source informed me that they have the best titty physics.
Is it fun?
Would you pay for it?
Did you put your name in the goblet, Harry?
Wanna know how I got these scars?
Is your beard lush currently?
I'm bad at questions.

Re: wildstar beta weekend
I'm playing boring human. I wish I had played the other thing though. No, the other one.
It got a lot better outside of the tutorial. It's pretty standard. The style / charm they are going for is obvious. Combat is OK. It's a solid version of toolbar combat. Questing is pretty standard, storytelling isn't anything out of the ordinary (WoW Wrath / Cata level), though I might just be ruined in that aspect.
I don't know if I would pay, but I also haven't got to any of what are supposed (I think) to be their selling points, like their dungeons and crap. I'm also burnt out on standard MMO questing at this point in any game and that's all I've experienced so far. I was hoping the paths system would allow it to be like an enhanced version of GW2 where I could just do vistas or something but I completely misread that, I think. I think I made that all up in my head.
I did not and don't call me Harry.
Yes.
It's just long enough to be uncomfortable when it's hot but it snowed here last week so wtf.

RE: Story, the best zone story wise comes in at around level 34 (or 36 maybe). The best questing zone is around level 32. Also, PvP is pretty good exp, if you're up for it and queues are popping.
