RE: The 'OT Riots' and Thaed's future thread.

We all know what is going to happen in its aftermath. Bans shall fly left right and centre. For now, I shall stay away from the fray. But the time shall come in the very near future when I post the below thread. I want to run it by you guys, to see if you think it is fair and encompasses our feelings on a whole. Assuming the thread is deleted and I recieve an infraction or a ban, I shall escalate things, one thread at a time. I encourage one or two people to attempt to stay banless, so we may work on freeing the OT.

Before I begin, let me state this: I come not to bash mods, nor incite mod bashing. This is not a thread for trolls, but a thread where we may civily discuss the moderation of this site and what we feel should be done. I encourage anyone that posts to do so in a respectful manner; insults will get us no-where.

The Off-Topic forums. A place where members can kick back and relax, talk about the random things in life, have a good time in general. A place where, once, a serious discussion may have been held. No more. With the introduction of new moderators, we have seen a mass crack-down on all members of the forums, not just those who frequent the OT. This crack down has been extremely detrimental to the community; not only posts that are actually offensive have been deleted, but people are recieving infractions for the most mundane of posts.

We understand that you want these forums in general to be inviting to prospective new members. Yet why are you pushing old members away? It is all well and good to keep an eye out for trolling and offensive behaviour, yet we cannot voice our opinions anymore for fear of being banned!Now, I am not encouraging that new members be discriminated against. Nor am I saying that we should be rude or un-inviting. But they way you moderate everything we do, everything we say... The forums have become a very uninviting place to us.

This insanely strict moderation needs to stop. I am not condoning anarchy, I do not believe anyone wishes for the trolls and children to run amok. Yet things need to be toned down considerably. If someone posts a sarcastic remark, you give them an infraction for trolling, or offensive behaviour, regardless of whether the other person was actually offended. Have you ever thought to message them and ask their intentions? I'm positive many infractions could have been avoided should the 'offender' apologize realising that may have offended someone. Hell, I'm sure that half the situations could be worked out between posters without the need for a moderators guidance. Banning or infracting people for these small issues only serves as a deterrant to all posters to even post. You don't want this place to become a cold wasteland, do you?

Every day these forums become less and less fun. Every day another poster recieves an infraction for something that didn't seem offensive to anyone. If this extreme moderation continues, these forums will wilt and crumble like a flower that hasn't had enough water. These forums are the flower, and we are the water.

Which is why this post is as inoffensive as possible.

Should I be infracted or banned, I will escalate it with examples of horribad infractions. Should that not work... I have something in mind, if people would like to co-operate.

I'm trying to spend all my posting time on Selkath at this point, I just don't find any humor in the new OT. So, at this point, if anyone wants to throw a riot and we all simultaneously try and get banned, I'm all for it.

I made a thread about a mario angel telling me i am jesus on a lsd trip.

Everyone is pretty much going all out.

If by the slight chance they do check the boards tomorrow instead of coming back Monday, we will probably be banned.

So if you wanna take a chance and wait for everyone on Sunday you could or just throw it down now.
